Silicone elastomer for molds, 15 +/- 3 SHORE (medium hardness), suitable for making short-lived molds. We recommend producing shapes that are easy to remove because the rubber could tear if pulled too much.
1 kg package + catalyst (included), blue in color.
Silicone for making molds for objects made of plaster, wax - candles, concrete, polyester and polyurethane resins, and other materials.
Working time: approximately 5 minutes
Demolding time: 4-5 hours (12 hours recommended)
Features:
- Highly non-stick and extremely accurate in reproducing details
- easy to use
- slightly sensitive to humidity
- low linear shrinkage
- low mechanical properties (low elongation at break)
APPLICATIONS
- Candles
- Restoration and architectural elements
- Crafts and applied arts (handmade candles, figurines, decorative objects in general)
- Reconstituted stone
- Technical stone panels
- Imitation stone accessories
- Decorative elements for indoor and outdoor use
- Scenic effects (masks, theatrical and cinematic elements, etc.)
- Industrial applications (seals, spacers, insulation and protective solutions, etc.)
See the attachments for the technical and safety data sheets.
Instructions for use:
- Ensure that the temperature of the silicone and catalyst is at least 25 °C (if they have been stored at lower temperatures, for example in winter, warm them by placing them near a heat source such as a radiator)thoroughly mix the liquid silicone rubber with 4.75% of the supplied catalyst using a spatula (for example, 47.5 g per 1 kg of silicone = pour container B into container A). It is best to use an electric mixer, which ensures thorough dispersion of the catalyst; this step is very important because if the catalyst is not dispersed properly, you may obtain a softer and less resistant rubber. Warning: once the catalyst is added to the silicone, you have only 4-5 minutes to pour it over the model to be reproduced
- Pour the silicone into the frame containing the object to be reproduced. Warning: the object must be fixed to the bottom of the container with glue; otherwise, it will tend to float in the silicone. Apply our release spray to the object to be reproduced and to the frame: silicone may adhere strongly to surfaces such as glass, ceramics, or porous materials.
- Wait 4/5 hours for the silicone to harden (it is best to wait 12 hours before removing the model from the mold - during this time, the temperature must remain around 25 °C - if the temperature is lower, the hardening time will increase)
-
Before using the mold, we recommend leaving it to rest for 24-48 hours before pouring wax or plaster; this greatly extends the mold's lifespan.
- If you want to reproduce objects that are difficult to remove, we recommend making a zigzag cut on one side of the mold (see illustrative photo); this is because if the mold is stretched too much, it may tear
- The mold must be at least 2-3 cm thick. Smaller thicknesses may weaken the mold, causing it to tear.
