Differences between the various soy waxes on our site

We offer various types of soy waxes from different suppliers on our website. This choice stems from the need to meet diverse requirements in terms of price, quality, and specific applications. Furthermore, in complex periods such as those experienced in recent years, it has allowed us to ensure greater inventory continuity and better availability for prompt delivery.

From a technical standpoint, the main difference between the various waxes concerns the melting point, i.e., the temperature at which the heated wax begins to transition from a solid to a liquid state. A second important difference is the color. As they are produced by different companies, the format and appearance of the product also change: some waxes come in flakes, others in pellets or lentil-sized pearls, and still others in blocks, obtained by pouring melted wax into a bag inside the box and then allowing it to solidify.

Types for filling glasses and containers

Soy Wax 58

Soy wax 58 is an American product and was the first soy wax we marketed, dating back to 2002-2003.

It comes in flakes and has a melting point between 48 and 54 °C.

Adhesion to container: good

Color: ivory white

Flame: excellent

Recommended pouring temperature into container: 65 °C

Hardness: medium

Surface after solidification: fair-good after the first pour, excellent after the second. To achieve a smooth surface, it is recommended to let the wax solidify and then pour a thin final layer.

Main applications: container candles with a diameter of up to 8 cm, small scented tarts.

Secondary applications: figurines, possibly with the addition of Pillar soy wax, and containerless candles with a very large diameter, at least 10 cm. Particularly during the summer, containerless candles made with this wax may soften or melt more easily.

Soy Wax C3

Soy wax C3 is an American product from Cargill.

It comes in flakes and has a melting point between 51 and 54 °C.

Adhesion to container: good

Color: slightly ivory white, lighter than soy wax 58

Flame: excellent

Recommended pouring temperature into container: 65 °C

Hardness: medium

Surface after solidification: good after the first pour, excellent after the second. In this case too, to achieve a smooth surface, a very thin second pour is recommended.

Main applications: container candles with a diameter of up to 8 cm, small scented tarts.

Secondary applications: figurines, preferably with the addition of Pillar soy wax, and containerless candles with a very large diameter, at least 10 cm. During warmer periods, containerless candles made with this wax may melt more quickly.

Soy Wax SP50

Soy wax SP50 is a European product.

It comes in 10 kg blocks and has a melting point between 46 and 51 °C.

Adhesion to container: excellent

Color: cream

Flame: excellent

Recommended pouring temperature into container: 60-65 °C

Hardness: low

Surface after solidification: good-excellent after the first pour, perfect after the second. For a smooth finish, it is recommended to do a thin second pour.

Main applications: container candles, including those with large diameters.

Note: being a very soft wax, it is not suitable for freestanding candles or figurines.

Soy Wax SP55

Soy wax SP55 is a European product.

It comes in pellets or drops and has a melting point between 48 and 52 °C, with a freezing point between 32 and 42 °C.

Adhesion to container: excellent

Color: ivory-cream

Flame: excellent

Recommended pouring temperature into container: 60-65 °C

Hardness: low-medium

Surface after solidification: good-excellent after the first pour, perfect after the second. For a smooth surface, it is recommended to add a thin final layer of wax.

Main applications: container candles, including those with large diameters.

Type for containerless candles

Pillar Soy Wax

Pillar soy wax is a European product.

It comes in pellets or drops and has a melting point between 54 and 60 °C.

Color: ivory-cream

Flame: excellent

Recommended pouring temperature: 70-75 °C

Hardness: high

Main applications: containerless candles, such as cylindrical candles, artistic candles, figurines, and scented tarts.

Usage suggestions: especially in winter, or in the case of shapes with small reliefs or very fine details, cracks or breakages may occur during solidification. To reduce this risk, it is recommended to let the wax cool very slowly, maintaining an ambient temperature of not less than 20-22 °C. It may also be useful to add 30-40% of a softer soy wax, such as Soy 58, C3, SP55, or BK50.
